AS TIME GOES BY
Are the world, ego and the body all the same thing? “Yes they are one and the same thing. You can see the world cannot exist without the mind, the mind cannot exist without what we call the ego and the ego cannot exist without a body. “……Ramana Maharshi, …’Answers 100 Questions’
“God, Grace and Guru are the innermost essence of awareness, which is revealed or experienced, when attachment to all forms is broken”…..’The Sadguru, In Bhagavan Ramana’s own words’.
How does speech arise? “There is abstract knowledge, whence arises the ego, which in turn gives rise to thought, and thought to the spoken word.
So the word is the great-grandson of the original source, But people do not understand this simple bare truth, the truth of their everyday,ever-present, eternal experience….Ramana Maharshi Maharshi’s Gospel p11.
‘There is no teacher, nor is there anyone to be taught, therefore there is no teaching”….The Sadguru, In Bhagavan Ramana’s own words’.
I was in Byron Bay for my Yoga Teacher Training when one of the participants mentioned a holy mountain named Arunachala, in Tamil Nadu, South India. I was planning to go to the 11th International Vegan Festival that was held in India the following year in 2007, and thus was my introduction to the presence of Ramana Maharshi. SInce my first acquaintance, I have never had any reason to doubt the pointings which were given during the 50 years of his life here from 1900 t0 1050. I purchased a few books at that time, and one publication ‘Heart is Thy Name, Oh Lord’ subtitled ‘Moments of Silence with Sri Ramana Maharshi’, has been an adequate reference ever since.
Language has been the major pathway to my relationships for understanding of this world of duality, especially so as I have not developed a ready steady ability to generate images at will that can take my imagination into the strongly visual phenomena that I believe could be made available. I do not lament that situation, but record it nevertheless, as the importance of words has loomed large in my search for clarity of the known and unknown. The devotee Michael James provides regular Satsangs which are accessible by streaming content, and the polishing of the actual intent of Ramana’s pointings from original texts, continues to be a great source of interest and a regular input to my own routine.
Being at a loss to find a starting point for this tome,I am pleased that at least the introduction above has the accuracy of pointing that Ramana bestows. As for confirmation of the source of of my own writing, words spill out as a wordy document here, with a sense of their origin and their minimal impact as any sort of teaching. The value of writing is for myself, these are generally my observations which undergo a process of reflection and the need to record in words of the outcomes thereof is because I usually make no attempt to remember anything! There was a time when I would remember almost everything I considered, however that dropped away in the late 1980’s as I ventured anew. I seldom review my writings, but I record them because I do, with a vague expectation that the record may actually be of use to some one else some day. Writing for posterity or history in a life of circumstance and constructed meanings in a seeming world of duality has for me, Vega, very little meaning, I chose the name Vega Deva a few decades ago, I used it initially for email contact and as a pseudonym on social platforms. I was given a birth name, Alan Frederick Glen. I changed the Alan to Zalan in the mid 1990’s and also dropped the Frederick, so really Vega was the third attempt at redefinition.
Enough, now the preliminaries have been expressed, the closest I have come to in my understanding of reality is to pursue the Ramana Pointings and many other sources of information that promote an ultimate reality of Oneness or Non-Duality, in which this personality or ego, finally drops away, and what is left is a simple solution to life’s apparent mystery, and that is “I am-I am”. I trust this is an adequate introduction to the website and an entity called Vega Deva.
